The first thing that you will notice about this timepiece when it is unveiled is the tourbillon cage, which has been positioned vertically instead of the usual horizontal position. According to Mr Journe,Zenith Replica the reason for making the cage vertical was to maintain the tourbillon functions whether the watch is on its side or perfectly flat.
The tourbillon also makes a rotation in 30 seconds, instead of the usual one minute. It is surrounded by an elegant conical ring that reflects and concentrates light on the tourbillon.
When you look closely, there is no dial at all. You might initially mistake the bridges of the mainplate in 18k rose-gold for the dial. This is a nod to a 1991 wristwatch, which Mr Journe built and presented at Baselworld in the same manner. The Tourbillon Souverain Vertical features a "dial" decorated with "Clous de Paris". It also has two subdials that are made from one piece of enamel for the seconds and the hours.
